The memory-and-foundry strait ripped on Intel's SK hynix tie-up rumor, while CoreWeave fell on a $3B convertible-and-equity raise.

Intel (INTC) led, up 7.7% to $108.80, on reports of a possible manufacturing tie-up with SK hynix — a structure that could put Korean memory production inside Intel's planned US fab footprint — layered on a Barclays upgrade to Overweight from Underweight and a Tigress price-target lift to $145. The move lands on the domestic-foundry chokepoint the vertical maps: the scarce asset is not another accelerator design but US-sited leading-edge capacity and the advanced packaging that co-locates logic with memory. SoftBank's ADR (SFTBY) rode alongside at +7.2% to $21.15 as the Intel-stake holder. The tell that this was a memory-and-packaging session, not a rate one, is that it happened the day a Fed hike to 3.75%–4% took effect — a backdrop that usually pressures the capex complex.

CoreWeave (CRWV) was the laggard, down 4.2% to $79.88, after announcing a ~$3B convertible offering plus an at-the-market equity program of up to 35 million shares — a financing-cost and dilution signal that the neocloud tier's build-out is outrunning its balance sheet. The optics rung also mean-reverted after Wednesday's spike: Lumentum (LITE) −2.8% to $893.61 and Fabrinet (FN) −3.0% to $380.92 gave back part of the prior session's coverage-driven rip. These were the session's only real soft spots, and both are position-cleanup, not a break in the strait.

The genuine strength was the memory-and-packaging physical layer. SK hynix (000660.KS) rose 6.4% to ₩1,857,000 in its Seoul session on the HBM chokepoint, Micron (MU) +5.5% to $977.50 alongside it, and the advanced-packaging rungs ran hard: FormFactor (FORM) +6.4% to $111.53 on wafer test, Camtek (CAMT) +4.1% to $144.21 on packaging inspection, and ASE (ASX) +5.4% to $39.99 on CoWoS assembly. AMD added 6.4% to $545.09, Marvell (MRVL) +4.8% to $240.76 and Credo (CRDO) +4.2% to $168.25 on custom-silicon and interconnect, with TSMC (TSM) +3.0% to $430.26 as the leading-edge foundry backstop. The read is coherent: capital paid up for the memory-and-packaging names that gate whether accelerators can actually be built and fed.

The catalysts ahead are the supply-side calendar. Ecolab's ~$4.75B CoolIT acquisition is expected to close this quarter, folding direct-liquid-cooling into the thermal chokepoint. OCP Global Summit (Oct 12–15, San Jose) sets rack power and cooling standards, and SEMICON West (Oct 13–15, San Francisco) brackets packaging and lithography. On the demand side, the OpenAI IPO listing window is targeted to open early in Q4 — the event that validates or deflates the buildout thesis — and Intel's 14A external-customer decision window opens by year-end, the domestic-foundry swing factor that today's SK hynix chatter foreshadows.
