Broadcom fell despite a beat as its guide disappointed, while power, cooling and neocloud names led a broad AI-infrastructure rally.

The tape was a broad risk-on session — the S&P 500 rose 1.06% and the Nasdaq 1.4% as long-dated yields fell and Fed-hike fears eased — and the compute basket's mechanical leader was Camtek (CAMT), up 5.3% to $138.90 with no company-specific news. Camtek sits on the advanced-packaging inspection-and-metrology chokepoint: as accelerators move to chiplets and HBM stacks, the yield problem shifts to packaging, and the tools that inspect it get bid with the AI-hardware complex. On a day the whole strait was firm, the inspection layer moved with it.

The laggard carried the actual news. Broadcom (AVGO) fell 2.7% to $357.16 after its latest results — a top- and bottom-line beat undercut by a disappointing fiscal-fourth-quarter revenue forecast, enough to reignite AI-spend-digestion worries in a stock priced for acceleration. Broadcom owns two of this vertical's tightest chokepoints — custom accelerator ASICs and the networking silicon that lashes GPUs into clusters — so a cautious guide reads across the whole fabric. The optical-interconnect names moved with it (Applied Optoelectronics and Lumentum each −2.7%), and ASML slipped 2.1% to $1,646.19, the EUV-lithography monopoly trading on its own cadence.

Away from Broadcom, the rally was led by the power-and-cooling and neocloud tiers — the physical bottleneck of the buildout. Vertiv (VRT) rose 4.7% to $268.83, with one analyst flagging roughly 100% upside on the data-center thermal-and-power chokepoint; SoftBank's ADR (SFTBY) added 5.0% to $16.44; CoreWeave (CRWV) 4.5% to $84.56; and Modine (MOD) 4.0% to $186.63 on liquid cooling. GE Vernova (+2.2% to $941.84) and nVent (+2.6%) carried the grid-and-electrical side. The hyperscalers were broadly higher — Microsoft +2.7% to $510.12, Meta +3.0% to $610.68, Arista +2.9% to $191.44 — while SK hynix rose 3.2% in Seoul on the HBM chokepoint and NVIDIA added 1.8% to $228.45 on reports it will acquire the AI-model platform Hugging Face.

The calendar thickens into the fourth quarter. Ecolab's ~$4.75B acquisition of liquid-cooling maker CoolIT is expected to close in Q3, consolidating the thermal chokepoint. The OpenAI IPO listing window is targeted to open in Q4 and Anthropic's pricing window sits in later 2026 — the two events that would put public prices on the largest private demand for this hardware. The OCP Global Summit runs October 12–15 in San Jose and SEMICON West October 13–15 in San Francisco, the back-to-back reads on rack architecture and the fab-equipment cycle behind every accelerator.
