NVIDIA's blowout fiscal Q2 drove the accelerators chokepoint to a record single-day gain and lifted packaging and interconnect, while SK hynix's home line sold the news.

NVIDIA was the desk — and the tape. The accelerator anchor of the compute stack rose 8.7% to $227.98 on a fiscal Q2 that put revenue at $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year, with data-center revenue near $89 billion and third-quarter guidance of $105.8–110.6 billion against a ~$104.8 billion consensus. The move added roughly $441.5 billion in market value to a $5.49 trillion company — the second-largest single-day market-cap gain on record. NVIDIA owns the accelerators-and-capex chokepoint outright, so its print resets the demand signal for every adjacent strait, and the guidance — a raise, not a plateau — is what turned a good quarter into a tape-wide bid.

The laggard was the memory chokepoint, and specifically the source: SK hynix's Seoul-listed line (000660.KS) fell 4.5% in its most recent home session — a different calendar day than the US tape, and a sell-the-news pullback after an HBM-driven run rather than a break in the thesis. SK hynix supplies more than half the world's high-bandwidth memory and has begun mass-shipping HBM4 into exactly the Blackwell-class demand NVIDIA just guided higher; the stock simply gave back gains after signing the largest memory-supply agreement in its history with NVIDIA. The read is timing, not demand: HBM remains the die-stacking bottleneck that gates every accelerator shipped.

The rally concentrated in packaging and interconnect — the physical straits that turn silicon into a system. Amkor jumped 6.9% to $51.74 and ASE's ADR (ASX) rose 4.4% to $38.90 on the advanced-packaging choke; Credo climbed 6.1% to $240.24 and Broadcom 4.5% to $371.54 on the optical-and-networking layer; TSMC's ADR added 2.3% to $427.30 at the foundry chokepoint, with Vertiv +2.1% to $269.28 on power-and-thermal. The soft spots were a defensive fund line (VCX −3.0%) and the AI-infrastructure customers that had led prior sessions — CoreWeave −1.4% to $86.80, Amazon −1.5% to $256.26 — rotating behind the silicon.

The calendar stays immediate. Broadcom reports fiscal Q3 on September 3 — the next hyperscaler-ASIC read after NVIDIA. Structurally, Ecolab's roughly $4.75 billion CoolIT acquisition is expected to close this quarter, hardening the liquid-cooling choke that gates dense-rack deployment. Further out, OCP Global Summit (October 12–15) and SEMICON West (October 13–15) are where the packaging, interconnect and HBM roadmaps that led and lagged Thursday get their next public update.
